Student Housing

We are delighted to introduce you to the Nazarbayev University dormitory – an environment where we encourage students to realize their full potential and have an active student life.

Living in the dormitories of NU and taking advantage of its academic, sport and other facilities not only facilitates students’ personal developments, but also inspires them for future commitments to the University and the society in general.

All dormitory rooms are equipped with everything needed for a comfortable living: beds, desks, closet space, bedside tables, Wi-Fi routers, etc., so there is no need to bring any extra furniture. Room dimensions vary according to the block.

Quick facts about NU dormitories:

  • Approximately over 80% of NU students reside on campus.
  • There are 9 residential halls (blocks) at NU.
  • Each residential block has a Resident Assistant and a Block Manager.
  • Newly-admitted students are normally assigned to four/three bed rooms. In subsequent years, students will be relocated to double rooms with one roommate.
  • There are basically three different floor plans in the residential halls: 7-storey, 10-storey and 12-storey residential facilities.
  • Residential equipment, medical office, study rooms, laundry facilities, mini markets, vending machines, beauty salons, canteens and other common areas are available in the residential halls.

Cooking

Each floor of the residential block has its own kitchen equipped with fridges, cooker, cabinets, sink, and common table and chairs, where students can enjoy their meals together.

Dining Services

Apart from cooking themselves, students can buy various dishes for a reasonable price in any of the several canteens available in the residential blocks.

Please remember to take your bicycle with you at the end of the semester. Bicycles found on the racks after the end of the semester will be confiscated. In the winter period the limited storage for bicycles will be provided.

Safety Equipment

Safety equipment including sprinklers, smoke detectors, heat sensors, fire exit signs, fire extinguishers, pull stations, hoses, alarm bells, and any other safety equipment is important for ensuring safety of the campus residents. Activating, handling, using, or interfering with any fire or safety equipment for any reason other than an emergency is prohibited at all times.

Tobacco

To support the rights of all campus residents and in compliance with university policy, residential blocks are tobacco-free, including traditional legal substances as well as smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes (electronic cigarettes). The use of tobacco products is prohibited in both individual rooms and in public areas within the halls and apartments. There are several spots on campus designed for smoking.
