Nazarbayev University (NU) is thrilled to unveil an exciting collaboration with the University of Hong Kong (HKU), expanding horizons for academic exchange opportunities.
On October 9, 2023, Nazarbayev University had the privilege of hosting Professor Derek Collins, Deputy Vice-President, and Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Hong Kong. This visit marked a significant milestone in the collaboration between two institutions. During the meeting with NU's leadership, a agreement on student exchange was signed.
Under the terms of this Agreement, both universities will facilitate the exchange of four undergraduate and graduate students, offering them the opportunity to study at the partner institution. Professor Derek Collins took special note of the profound cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, particularly in the context of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative. It is worth remembering that this visionary project was announced a decade ago by Chinese President Xi Jinping right here, within the walls of Nazarbayev University.
Established in 1911, the University of Hong Kong boasts a prestigious reputation as a world-class research university, securing the 35th spot in the coveted THE World University Rankings for 2024. With a commitment to global collaboration, HKU currently hosts over 5,000 international students from 90 countries and partners with 430 leading universities in 47 countries for academic exchanges and joint research initiatives.
This partnership is set to not only unite our academic communities but also shape the future of economic and cultural ties between our countries, reflecting our shared dedication to advancing global education.
