The official ceremony to honor and present the award took place on May 2, 2024, in Washington, DC, United States, during the 2024 AAHCI Global Innovation Forum.
The AAHCI Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals for their extraordinary commitment, leadership, and service in enhancing the effectiveness of academic health centers worldwide in patient care, biomedical research, and health professions education.

- Significant contributions to advancing the work of academic health centers worldwide;
- A crucial and collaborative role during the key transition period for the merger of AAHCI with the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC);
- Ongoing guidance for AAHCI activities in Central Asia and beyond;
- Leadership as Chairman of the Steering Committee from 2021 to 2023.
