Youth Eco Dialogue: Climate & Water Meetup Held at NU

NU hosted the Youth Eco Community Meetup: Climate & Water Challenges in Central Asia, bringing together young people to discuss key climate and water challenges facing the region and to expand youth engagement in environmental initiatives.

The event was organized by UNICEF Kazakhstan, the French Development Agency (AFD), and the NU Office of Sustainable Development.

During the opening session, representatives of the organizing partners emphasized the importance of maintaining ongoing dialogue with youth and the need to combine efforts to address the region’s environmental challenges. Participants were introduced to climate action and youth engagement programs, including initiatives in environmental education, volunteering, and participation in national and international environmental projects.

As part of the Youth Talks segment, young volunteers shared their perspectives on water and climate challenges in Central Asia and presented ideas for youth-led solutions and projects. The program continued with screenings of AFD documentary films on the Aral Sea and the Pamir region, followed by discussions on key takeaways relevant to Kazakhstan and proposals for strengthening environmental storytelling.

A dedicated session focused on preparations for the UNICEF Youth Forum, which will take place as part of the Regional Environmental Summit in April 2026.
