Over 60 school students attended a series of lectures as part of the preparation for the II Republican Field Olympiad “Zhas Geolog – 2025.”
At the invitation of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Astana, Assistant Professors George Mathews, Kamal R. Regmi, and Jovid Aminov of Nazarbayev University’s School of Mining and Geosciences provided pro bono academic support.
From June 4–5, students from across Kazakhstan gathered on the NU campus, where they explored core Olympiad topics such as mineralogy, geohazards and the environment, and petrology. The program also included hands-on training in geological section documentation and sedimentary formation mapping.
The School of Mining and Geosciences at NU proudly supports such initiatives, strengthening the bridge between academic research and school education while inspiring the next generation of Earth scientists.
