On September 26, singer, composer, and People’s Artist of Kazakhstan Dimash Qudaibergen visited Nazarbayev University.
He was welcomed by the university leadership and students.
At the start of his visit, Dimash toured the Senate Hall, where in 2013 President of China Xi Jinping delivered a lecture to students and announced the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative, which today brings together more than 150 countries and 30 international organizations. The choice of venue was symbolic, given China’s special role in the artist’s career and his close ties with the country.
University President Waqar Ahmad, Executive Vice President Aslan Sarinzhipov, and Vice President Assel Uvaliyeva presented the guest with the university’s master plan and spoke about NU’s development over the past 15 years, its international partnerships with leading universities around the world, including Chinese institutions, as well as plans to attract more international students.
Assel Uvaliyeva emphasized that NU focuses not only on academic excellence but also on nurturing students’ creative potential. She highlighted the diversity of student clubs, including the NU Choir, NU Orchestra, Kiye Qazaq Dance Club, K-pop Cover Dance Club YBS, among others.
At the conclusion of the visit, Dimash Qudaibergen left a message in the University’s Guest Book and posed for a commemorative photo with the leadership.
“I wish you all the very best! With love and warm regards, Dimash Qudaibergen,” he wrote.
