On April 23-24, 2024, the National Laboratory Astana (NLA) at NU successfully hosted a forum titled “The Illumina Genomics Day,” organized in collaboration with Gen Era Diagnostics in the field of molecular diagnostics and life sciences.
“The Illumina Genomics Day” stands as a significant event for global leaders in genomics, providing scientists with a unique opportunity for knowledge exchange and collaboration. The forum brought together scientists from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, and Russia.
Throughout the event, leading speakers from Illumina Inc. presented the latest advancements in next-generation sequencing. Discussion topics included “Improving Human Health by Unlocking the Power of The Genome: The Path to Precision Medicine”, “Latest Innovations in Illumina’s Portfolio & Illumina Complete Long-Read”, “Advancing Human Genetics in Kazakhstan from Discovery to Clinical Solutions with Illumina’s Technologies”, “Leverage Illumina Connected Software and Genomic AI to deliver a more accurate and comprehensive genome”. Scientists from the Laboratory of Genomic and Personalized Medicine (LGPM) shared their valuable results in next-generation sequencing for the analysis of cardiovascular diseases, cancer, tuberculosis, as well as whole genome and exome analysis.
Discussions at The Illumina Genomics Day fostered stronger connections, established long-term collaborations, and outlined plans for the future. LGPM is the sole laboratory at NLA utilizing Illumina platforms since 2012, boasting platforms such as MiSeq, HiSeq 2000, and NovaSeq 6000. In turn, Gen Era Diagnostics, the exclusive distributor of Illumina Inc., provides all necessary reagents for various types of experiments conducted using Illumina platforms.
