Ms. Marge Mardisalu-Kahar, Director General of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia department of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Estonia, gave a guest lecture at NU on the topic “Estonian Security Policy Journey”. The lecture was held for the university community: students, faculty and staff. The Ambassador of Estonia to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Mr. Toomas Tirs also attended the lecture.
Ms. Mardisalu-Kahar, in her lecture, spoke about the history of the development of security policy in Estonia and shared her vision of the country. Ms. Mardisalu-Kahar holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Tartu and a master’s degree in contemporary history from the Central European University (Hungary). Prior to her appointment as Director General of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia department of the Estonian Ministry of foreign affairs, she held the position of head of the security policy division.
