The delegation was headed by the Vice-Rector for Science of this Kazakhstani university, Alzhan Shamshidin.
The NU Vice President for International Cooperation, Darkhan Bilyalov, welcomed colleagues, introduced them to the General Plan of the University campus, and invited the scientists to visit NU’s top-class laboratories.
During the visit, the scientists visited the academic laboratories of the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences – Building Materials and Soil Mechanics, where students make various products from concrete mixtures and ceramics using rice husks.
ISSAI researchers showed the Zhangir Khan University’s delegation the latest developments in AI, including the first automatic speech recognition (ASR) model for the state language and the first Kazakh-text-to-speech (KazakhTTS) corpus. The visitors were particularly interested in the capabilities of the highly functional electron microscopy laboratory, which houses two unique electron microscopes that allow the study of material at the molecular level.
At the end of the visit, the young scientists of National Laboratory Astana at NU presented their colleagues with their projects in the genomic and personalized medicine field. The delegation expressed the intention for cooperation and discussed ways for cooperation with NU scientists and study their experience in commercialization and research.
