On August 15, 2017, 42 top students of School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Science and Technology and School of Engineering (14 from each school) returned from an eight-week Visiting International Student Program (VISP) fully funded by NU that took place at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. Since 2014, the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison), a strategic partner of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, accepted 197 junior students of NU to the Visiting International Student Program (VISP).

14 students of NU (NU) and 15 students of Renmin University of China (RUC) had a chance to learn and explore diverse cultures of China and Kazakhstan. Through an enriching combination of lectures, cultural events and site visits program aimed to provide students with a comprehensive cultural immersion and allow them to gain insights on economic development of the two countries, role of youth in “One Belt One Road” Initiative and in the developments in the future energy field echoing EXPO 2017.

Students come from 6 universities-members of the University Alliance of the Silk Road, namely, Xi’an Jiaotong University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, NU, Beijing University of Technology, Capital Normal University, and Capital University of Economics and Business. Among the participants there are 5 undergraduate students from NU.

The National University of Singapore is a strategic partner of NU. As of today, more than 60 students from Singapore have visited Astana, Kazakhstan since 2015, when the program was launched in cooperation with NU.
