NU students took first place at the reputable Samsung Innovation Campus Hackathon. NU students Asel Abzalova, Abylai Kairatbek, Elamir Kadyrgaliyev, and Arman Bolatov achieved the top spot in the “Software” category with their interactive app for reading fairy tales. In the “Hardware” category, NU students Smagulkasym Arslanov and Nurbol Bizhigit emerged victorious by presenting an innovative alternative to interactive whiteboards.
The hackathon witnessed an impressive display of talent, with schoolchildren and students creating 46 interesting projects in the “Software” and “Hardware” categories. After 24 hours of dedicated work, the projects were defended before a qualified jury.
Samsung Innovation Campus, a free education project initiated in 2017, plays a crucial role in fostering the skills of schoolchildren and students in Kazakhstan, focusing on mobile application development, big data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
The award ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek and First Vice Minister of Digital Development and Aerospace Industry Kanysh Tuleushin. The winners in both categories were rewarded with certificates and cash prizes, with amounts ranging from 750,000 to 2,500,000 tenge based on their rankings. Moreover, each member of the winning teams received an annual access to courses on the LinkedIn platform, as reported by Inbussiness and several other media outlets.
