NU (NU) held a seminar training on “Abay’s teachings: “Tolyk Adam” and Justice”. The speaker – Professor, and Director of the NU Cultural Center, Gultas Kurmanbay, revealed the concept of “Tolyk Adam” (Perfect Man) and the deep roots of Abay’s philosophy, the principles of which are relevant to modern Kazakhstan.
“The great Abai said in his poems and works that there can be no progress without science and education. When a person knows himself, corrects his shortcomings and possesses a bright mind, creative energy and good heart, “he loves humanity as his brother and believes that it will reach the level of “Tolyk Adam”, Abay wrote. Man becomes perfect when intellect, courage and heart pass the test of justice”, – said the Professor, explaining the concept, the author of which is considered a scientist – philologist Mekemtas Myrzakhmetuly.
The seminar training as an open platform for free dialogue about the personality of the poet-philosopher, composer, translator, and spiritual mentor of the people Abai Kunanbaev was visited by NU students, teachers of the capital’s schools, public figures and university staff.
“The works of the great poet have not lost their relevance today. His deep thoughts and revelations should be the basis not only for our daily affairs but also for the education system,” Duisebek Adilkhan, Chairman of the public association “Academy of National Values” shared his opinion, noting the importance of the transition of the education system to the national model based on values and teachings of Abay.
Based on the teachings of Abay, the concept of “Tolyk Adam” (Perfect Man) was introduced into the NU education system to foster patriotism and moral qualities in students receiving world-class education and graduates involved in the affairs of the state. In 2023, prominent NU professors and teachers created a concept, “Educational work and formation of Kazakhstani patriotism “Tolyk Adam”, approved by the Governing and Board of Trustees of NU.
