As part of Africa Day, the Embassies organized small expositions for visitors to learn about these countries’ history, rich culture, and cuisine.

Starting from the foundation of the Organization of African Unity on May 25, 1963, this Day is celebrated annually. Today the African Union counts about 55 member states. The Ambassador of Egypt, Ambassador of Morocco, and the Provost of NU opened the event.

In his greeting speech, Professor Ilesanmi Adesida, the Provost of the NU, gave a historical background of the date.

“Because in 1963, great gentlemen and intellectuals came to Addis Ababa to form the Organization of African Unity. Their names are Gamal Abdel Nasser, Haile Selassie, and Kwame Nkrumah… What they built in terms of the principles is still very germane today. And it also flows into the theme of today – strengthening resilience in nutrition and food security on the African continent,” said the Provost.

As The Astana Times writes, the countries united by the African Union agreed to strengthen resilience in nutrition and food security in the African continent this year.

“The organization… was established with the intention of framing and assisting members to take through their ambitious program to enhance food security,” said Ambassador of Morocco to Kazakhstan Mohammed Rachid Maaninou.

As an international research university in Eurasia, NU prides on diversity and welcomes talented students from all countries. Today the University has about 150 international students from 30 countries, including Africa.
