NU Delegation in Bishkek: Turkic Heritage and Central Asian University Ties

Nazarbayev University (NU) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation in higher education during a working trip to Bishkek for the official celebration of the 30th anniversary of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) — a joint project established by the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey in 1995.

The celebration also brought together partner universities from Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation, and Hungary. NU was represented by Aliya Kaimoldinova, Director of the Department of Internationalization.

Earlier this year, NU and KTMU signed a student exchange agreement, scheduled to launch next semester, reflecting the institutions’ shared academic aspirations, their Turkic heritage, and their ties to Central Asia.

As part of the working visit, NU’s delegation also visited Salymbekov University, a new educational institution founded in 2019 under the educational initiatives of the Askar Salymbekov Foundation. Established in 2012, the foundation focuses on developing human potential, supporting education and science, and nurturing a new generation of enlightened youth in Kyrgyzstan.

This visit highlights NU’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with leading institutions in Central Asia and to expand opportunities for academic and student exchange. Currently, 13 students from the Kyrgyz Republic are enrolled at NU.
