The AAO Radiolab 1 podcast of the Office of Academic Advising (OAA) is available on the streaming platforms Apple Podcasts and YouTube. The first podcast features anonymous stories of freshman students who write about their studies and what concerns them most: family-society expectations, perfectionism, study motivation, mental well-being, and others, to address their concerns and feelings. Their letters were addressed and discussed with AAO advisors, NU Faculty, staff, and AAO fellows & tutors who shared their experience, wisdom, and insights regarding all things studies.
“Avoiding problems can lead to even greater problems. Our hope is that we can listen to our students and provide respectful and meaningful support to them to make sure they feel safe and heard. And we hope that the AAO podcast may help you discover actionable advice, exciting new ideas, and relaxing strategies that will help you grow your mindset, overcome challenges, or at least, feel it calm and more relaxed because you are not alone,” Zarina Syzdykova, AAO manager said.
The podcast is available in 3 languages. In Spring 23 semester, 6 heartfelt and deep episodes tackling several issues our students experience on a daily basis and sharing our own experiences as well, hosted by the AAO Team with different guest speakers such as Olzhas Tuyakbayev, General manager of the Office of the Registrar, Galiya Sagyndykova, NU SSH Director of studies, Beknur Karagul, NU SSH Senior manager of Academic and Student Affairs, Aizhan Sagu, AAO fellow, and Aidyn Taishybay, AAO tutor.
