Microsoft and NU Discuss Collaboration Opportunities in Digital Innovation

Nazarbayev University welcomed a delegation from Microsoft led by Barbora Paulovic Deckerova, President of Microsoft Northern Europe and Central Asia, who arrived in Kazakhstan on her first official visit.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the integration of advanced digital solutions into the University’s educational and research processes, as well as the development of NU’s existing information systems.

NU President Waqar Ahmad spoke about the scientific developments and innovative projects created by the University’s faculty and students, and emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships with leading global technology companies.

Atakan Varol, General Director of ISSAI, presented the institute’s cutting-edge projects, including the large language model KazLLM, as well as Mangisoz and Oylan — initiatives aimed primarily at strengthening Kazakhstan’s science, technology, and AI ecosystem.

Barbora Paulovic highlighted Nazarbayev University’s significant role as a leading regional center for technological, scientific, and educational development, and expressed interest in giving a lecture for the University’s students and staff in the near future.
