Leading Scholars Discuss the Future of Kazakh Linguistics

Nazarbayev University (NU) hosted the scientific-practical conference “Kazakh Linguistics: Integration of Theory and Practice”, held in honor of the 70th anniversary of distinguished linguist and NU Professor of Kazakh Language, Zeinekhan Kuzekova.

The event was organized by the Department of Kazakh Language and Turkic Studies at the School of Sciences and Humanities.

The conference brought together over 70 scholars, educators, language specialists, and researchers from 12 leading universities and research institutions across Kazakhstan, Russia, and the United States. Participants focused on key challenges and future directions in Kazakh linguistics, including issues of functional and communicative grammar, language teaching methodology, the integration of artificial intelligence and digital technologies into education, and current trends in ethnolinguistics, sociolinguistics, and media linguistics.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Kanysh Satpayev Medal to Professor Zeinekhan Kuzekova in recognition of her outstanding contributions to national science and education. She also received an official letter of commendation from Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Conference proceedings will be published in specialized journals, including Qutty Bіlіk, the official publication of the International Association of Kazakh Language Teachers, and Society – Woman – Science, published by the Republican Association of Women Scientists of Kazakhstan.

The conference was also supported by key institutions such as the Committee on Language Policy under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the KAZTEST system, the National Scientific and Practical Center «Til-Qazyna,» and the National Academy of Education.
