According to him, today the NU Library has the largest collection in Kazakhstan of books, periodicals and e-resources in English. And this donated set of books will certainly be a valuable supplement for the library collection. Cameco Kazakhstan’s President Galymzhan Pirmatov noted from his side that Cameco Corporation has great experience and rich traditions in terms of supporting socially valued initiatives and programs that help local community development in Kazakhstan. “This Book donation to NU became a good continuation of this work, because the support of talented young people and creation of good opportunities for qualitative education, to my mind, is an important task for today. In terms of this we would like to make our relevant contribution into raising a new generation of researchers, businesspeople, engineers and professionals in other fields. In other words, to create a professional cohort for the social-economic development of the country,” added Galymzhan Pirmatov. The book donation is a result of the signed memorandum of cooperation between NU and Cameco Kazakhstan, an affiliate of Cameco Corporation, a leading company in mining, production and conversion of uranium with their HQ in Canada. This book collection from Canadian, British and US printing houses is valued at 31 million KZT. The collection includes over 1,000 multivolume encyclopedias, valuable research monographs, edited volumes and reference materials in space technologies, telecommunications, business development, photonics and energy harvesting, urban planning and electrical engineering. All the editions are especially valuable for the NU schools and research centers. Galymzhan Pirmatov also noted that Cameco plans to continue its corporate social responsibility and sustainable development programs in Kazakhstan, which is focused on supporting local communities, establishing strong ties with strategic partners in Kazakhstan, and preparing high professionals for JV Inkay and uranium industry.
