Japan International Cooperation Agency’s expert visited NU as guest lecture

Dr. Takao Toda, the JICA expert on Official Development Assistance (ODA), and former Vice-President for Human Security and Global Health of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) delivered a guest lecture at NU, on February 28.

Dr. Takao Toda, the JICA expert on Official Development Assistance (ODA), and former Vice-President for Human Security and Global Health of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) delivered a guest lecture at NU, on February 28. The lecture was held for everyone interested, with the support of the Kazakhstan Agency for International Development KazAID. The guest talked about the role of ODA in today’s world and its impact on societal development. Dr.Toda explained the evolution of global cooperation in the modern world, the history and salient features of Japan’s ODA, and the significance of Kazakhstan’s role in a common future.

Dr.Toda started his career in JICA in 1984. For 37 years he has been engaged in the strategic implementation of Japan’s ODA in almost all developing countries. Dr.Takao Toda has acquired LL.B from the University of Kyoto, Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Management

from the University of London, a Master’s Degree in International Cooperation from the University of Tokyo, and PhD from the University of Nagoya. During this career, he visited more than 110 countries and experienced a wide variety of business settings with developing countries’ governments, other “donor” countries, private sectors, multilateral actors, civil societies, media, and academia.
