Nazarbayev University (NU) recently held a farewell gathering to honor its international students graduating in 2025.
The event brought together university leadership, representatives of the Alumni Association, and the graduates themselves — hailing from 20 countries across different continents.
NU President Professor Waqar Ahmad welcomed attendees, along with Vice Presidents Kadisha Dairova and Assel Uvaliyeva. Emphasizing the importance of the university’s international community, Professor Ahmad noted:
“It is almost impossible to envision a world-class university without cultural diversity. We take pride in the fact that talented individuals from across the globe choose NU as their home for learning and growth. Today, you join our growing alumni network — now nearing 12,000 strong. This is a remarkable achievement for a young university, and you are part of this story. Our graduates contribute to the advancement of knowledge, build bridges between nations, and help shape the future.”
Chairman of the NU Alumni Association, Yerbol Tulegenov, spoke about the opportunities that come with being an NU graduate. He shared his own professional journey and described how the alumni network functions across the globe:
“What unites us, despite our differences? I believe it’s our shared values — honesty, integrity, and a commitment to contributing to the greater good, not only in our home countries but around the world. Together, by supporting one another, we can bring remarkable ideas to life,” he said.
The 2025 international graduating class includes 5 bachelor’s, 42 master’s, and 17 PhD students. Throughout their time at NU, these students not only received a high-quality education but also became part of a unique and vibrant international community.
“I came here as a curious student, and today I graduate from Nazarbayev University with pride. This university shaped me not just academically, but personally. I’ve made lifelong friends, discovered new cultures, and became part of something greater than myself. It’s an experience I will always carry with me,” shared Emmanuel Zakka, a graduate of the School of Medicine’s Molecular Medicine program.
“I will always remember our NU community — and everyone who stood by my side on this journey. Thank you for your kindness, support, and warmth,” added Aiman Niiazova, a graduate of the School of Sciences and Humanities.
The event concluded with heartfelt student speeches, songs, and words of gratitude. It was an evening that symbolized new horizons and lasting bonds that will endure for a lifetime.
We wish our international graduates every success on their new journeys, bright achievements, and the courage to reach new heights!
