Satbayev University Master’s students completed an internship at NU School of Engineering and Digital Sciences. According to Kamal Aisultan, a second-year master’s degree student in “Electrical Engineering and Energy”, they were excited about the news of a possible internship at NU. He kindly shared his thoughts with us about his internship.
What are your impressions of the training and organization process?
Before the internship, we already knew about the potential of this University, and the conditions and opportunities that NU provides to its students. We know that NU has become a national brand of higher education in Kazakhstan. It is easy to notice the high level of the organization, the kind attitude of the staff, the responsiveness of the Professor, the well-equipped laboratories, and the well-thought-out infrastructure of the University campus. I want to thank the leadership of Satbayev University for giving us such a great opportunity and the leadership of NU for the warm welcome. I also want to thank the Professors who helped us, among them: Prof. Do Duk Ton, Prof. Mehdi Bagheri, Prof. Annie Ng, and Postdoctoral Scholar Gulnur Kalimuldin, and special thanks to Prof. Luis Ramon Rojas Solorzano.
What did this internship give you?
This is my first internship experience. As Thomas Dewar said: “Experience is what you get when you’re looking for something else”. I was looking for not only knowledge in my major, but also a different way of thinking. And I found it. We visited several laboratories with Professors, discussed some topics, and studied new materials. We visited the laboratory of electricity of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering with Professor Mehdi Bagheri, and got acquainted with electrical equipment. Prof. Luis Rojas gave us a course about the feasibility study of clean energy technologies using RETScreen. After passing the test, we received certificates.
How do you plan to use your knowledge?
As B. Disraeli said: “Experience is the child of thought, and thought is the child of action”. I hope the knowledge gained from the internship will be useful to us in the future. It would be good if the studied projects in laboratories and new prototypes found their way to domestic manufacturing enterprises. However, I understand it’s a matter of time. Of course, we will analyze the materials we studied, implement them and share them within our University. I hope that the two leading Universities in our country will establish friendly and mutually beneficial relations in the future.
