Zhazira Agabekova, Assistant Professor of NU School of Sciences and Humanities, and Yelizaveta Kamilova, NU Teaching and Learning Librarian, presented the Catalogue of Gender Education Resources and the Kazakh-English Explanatory Dictionary of Gender Terms.

These works were published under a three-year project titled “Scientific concept of gender education in higher education institutions of Kazakhstan: theoretical and methodological foundations” – a joint project of NU, KazZhenPU and ENU, funded by Kazakh’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education. It focuses on an interdisciplinary study of gender-related subjects in universities, developing a scientific framework for gender education, creating teaching strategies, and presenting a teaching module.

“Our research is based on recognizing the importance of gender education. Our work aims to create an inclusive environment for students to learn and conduct research, regardless of gender, while being sensitive to our cultural context,” said Project Leader Assistent Professor Zhazira Agabekova.

The study of the teaching methods history related to gender education offers valuable insights into the evolution of attitudes toward gender issues. Additionally, the building of a gender terminology base will help standardize the academic language, raising awareness and understanding of gender issues among both students and faculty, making these resources highly relevant and helpful.

Participants from various institutions, including L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Maqsut Narikbayev University, Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University, and others, highlighted the importance of such resources and their significant contribution to addressing modern challenges related to gender education, reassuring the audience about the quality and importance of the publications.
