Expanding Global Academic Partnerships: New International Collaborations
Nazarbayev University (NU) continues to expand its global network of academic partners by establishing new inter-university agreements with leading institutions in Asia, North America, and other regions. This strengthens NU’s presence in key areas and promotes academic and cultural exchange through shared resources, expertise, and best practices among institutions.
NU recently established new academic partnerships with four leading universities from three countries: the University of Georgia (UGA) in the United States, Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) and Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in South Korea, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong – Shenzhen in China. These universities are ranked among the top 500 in the Times Higher Education and Shanghai ARWU rankings, confirming their academic excellence and global recognition.
The agreements lay a strong foundation for dynamic collaboration in areas such as student and faculty exchange, joint research, publications and seminars, masterclasses, and other academic initiatives. The cooperation will span diverse fields, including technology, computer science, artificial intelligence, social sciences, economics, engineering, and more.
These efforts aim to enrich the academic and cultural experience for both NU and its partners, while creating a sustainable basis for long-term collaboration. Special emphasis is placed on academic mobility, which will offer NU students expanded opportunities to study abroad for a semester under credit transfer programs, gain new knowledge, and develop intercultural competencies.
In addition, NU students will gain access to leading research laboratories, a vibrant academic environment, intercultural exchange, and the modern resources of partner universities. The continuous growth of NU’s international partnerships reflects the university’s commitment to fostering a highly integrated academic environment with strong global engagement.
