Gulnara Omarbekova, NU SSH Associate Professor, presented a scientific collection entitled “Contemporary Kazakh Proverb Research Digital, Cognitive, Literary, and Ecological Approaches.” The collection of studies of sayings and proverbs was published by Peter Lang (New York) in 2022.
NU Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Loretta O’Donnell and Library General Expert Piotr Lapo participated in the collection launch at the NU Library.
The presentation’s guests, among them scientists, highly appreciated the content of this work, including the structure, semantics, cognitive, and linguocultural features of Kazakh proverbs, their pragmatics, transformation, and digitization in the media.
The first scientific work combining Kazakh and Western methodologies, the collection translated into English describes the national character of Kazakh proverbs. In addition, the presentation participants noted that the Scopus database accepted the book in 2023, considered a scientific achievement and a significant contribution to world linguistics.
Guests and colleagues of Gulnar Omarbekova shared their opinions about the book and expressed their wishes—the dombra performance and folk songs became a beautiful end of the evening.
