In early December, the Nazarbayev University Library hosted the Eurasian Academic Librarу Training (EALT-2025), an annual professional development program, organized in collaboration with the Association of University Libraries of Kazakhstan. The training brought together academic librarians and information science professionals from leading higher education institutions across the country, including MNU, AlmaU, Astana Medical University, M. H. Dulati Taraz Regional University, Almaty Technological University, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, and other organizations.
This year’s program focused on the theme “From Support towards Strategies: Empowering Librarians to be Leaders.” Over five days, participants explored modern approaches and tools aimed at strengthening the strategic role of academic libraries as key partners in teaching, learning, and research.
The training covered topics such as artificial intelligence literacy, the development of library services supporting teaching and learning, enhancement of research and academic support services, knowledge-sharing practices, user engagement strategies, and ways to improve the overall effectiveness of library operations.
By promoting innovation and fostering a strong professional community, the Eurasian Academic Librarу Training provides librarians from different regions with access to modern educational practices and technologies. The program supports academic libraries in responding to the evolving needs of university communities while aligning with international standards.
