Astana Ball – a symbol of beauty and charity

The gala evening, an integral part of the ball, allows participants to experience the importance of community work and develop a sense of responsibility towards society. Each year features a specific theme. Astana Ball 2024 was hosted as a masquerade, with the highlight of the evening being the debutants’ waltz, performed by 14 debutant couples this year.

Arman Narov, a second-year undergraduate student at the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences (SEDS) and President of the OffStage student club, said: “This charity evening is closed, open only to the NU community. Despite this, everyone has the opportunity to contribute to a good cause. Our concert featured performances by students, student clubs, and children from the Baqytty Shańyraq foundation. Our team dedicated five months to organising this event. As part of the charity evening, we focus on promoting social and civic engagement within the NU student community”.

The event is supported by major companies and organizations, enhancing its impact. Among the main sponsors of the ball are Kazakhstan’s leading zinc producer, Kazzinc, and the international company Oriflame.

An important partner of the event is the Baqytty Shańyraq social foundation, which assists families raising children with disabilities. The foundation supports 796 families by organising workshops and training courses aimed at improving their quality of life and fostering a supportive community.

Through partnerships with such organisations, the Astana Ball continues to inspire students and strengthen ties between youth, businesses, and society, creating a sustainable platform for social and cultural change.
