NU graduate Nursultan Khamzin told Forbes how his experience at Amazon helps him lead the strategic division at Tele2/Altel telecom company. Khamzin spoke about his experience at McKinsey, his studies at Harvard Business School, and his views on the 5G network in Kazakhstan.
“I was in the first graduating class of NU, studying to become a chemical engineer, and after graduation, I was planning to go to the US. I was invited to work at Schlumberger, but began training at McKinsey at the same time, despite the fact that the salary there was three times lower. At the time, I was probably the only one who hoped not to get a visa. In a situation where I had already accepted an offer from Schlumberger, the only good reason to turn it down was if my visa was rejected. I did not receive the visa. I’m still sure that it was the right choice, I really love my country and thought that I would bring more benefit here,” Nursultan said.
