2023 APCDA Hybrid Conference: New look at careers in a rapidly changing world

Asia Pacific Career Development Association (APCDA) and NU are hosting the “New Look at Careers in a Rapidly Changing World” hybrid conference on
May 16-26, 2023 at NU.

The Asia Pacific Career Development Association (APCDA) provides an international forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences in career development in the Asia Pacific region. The conference provides opportunities for networking, exchange among practitioners, and identification of new resources – the key aspects of this conference.

The first week of the conference (May 16-19) will be held in-person with simultaneous broadcast for the virtual attendees. All the sessions will be held in a plenary format (all participants will be in the same room). The second week of the conference will include breakout sessions. Attendees will have the opportunity to attend both in-person and virtual sessions, breakout sessions, and optional tours. To accommodate busy schedules, the event will offer access to recorded presentations for three months after the conference.

The Career and Advising Center will be the main point of contact, coordinating all issues related to the organization of the conference on behalf of NU.

The keynote speakers of the conference are:

  • President Momoko Osaka (Japan) – APCDA President, CEO of Veriteworks, and Officer of APCDA since 2016. She is a JCDA Certified Career Development Adviser/ Peer Facilitator, NCDA member, JPA Certified Psychologist, Industrial Counselor, Health and Productivity Management Advisor. Since 2014, Veriteworks has provided career and mental health counseling for corporate clients, as well as seminars, book publishing, media appearances.
  • President Shigeo Katsu (Kazakhstan) – President of NU since the university was founded in 2010. He is also a member of the National Commission on the Modernization of the Republic of Kazakhstan, serves as an advisor to international and bilateral development institutions, and co-authored the book Central Asia 2050 – Unleashing the Region’s Potential. Before joining NU, Mr. Shigeo Katsu worked at the World Bank for over 30 years.
  • Sayasat Nurbek (Kazakhstan), Minister of Higher Education and Science, national expert on education, education management, education program design, education and labor market analysis and policy, “Kazakhstan and the Future Trend”
  • Dr. Tristam Hooley (UK), professor at Inland Norway College of Applied Sciences and International Center for Guidance Studies, University of Derby, is an internationally recognized expert on career and vocational guidance, “Predicting the Future in Turbulent Times: the Role of Career Development”
  • Marie Zimenoff (USA), CEO of Career Thought Leaders, entrepreneur, speaker, leader, is driven by a passion to make a difference, “Working in 2035”

The conference features a diverse audience of delegates from 10 various countries and regions worldwide. To accommodate a wider audience, the plenary sessions will be translated into Kazakh and Russian.
