The School of Engineering and Digital Science is pleased to announce the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Conference on Sustainable Energy Materials and Smart Technologies, set to take place on August 21–23, 2025 at Nazarbayev University (NU). This conference will convene top researchers, industry leaders, and government representatives from BRI partner countries to address global energy challenges, showcase groundbreaking innovations, and advance cross-border collaboration in science and technology.
This conference holds exceptional significance as it coincides with NU’s 15th anniversary and commemorates a historic moment in regional diplomacy. In 2013, the Chinese President Xi Jinping introduced the concept of the "Silk Road Economic Belt" for the first time at NU, a concept that later became a foundation of the BRI. This historic announcement established NU as one of the key symbols of China-Kazakhstan cooperation and an intellectual gateway in the heart of Central Asia.
