The Nazarbayev University Library invites the community to a book presentation titled “Advancements in Underground Infrastructures” by Dr. Saffet Yagiz, Professor at the Department of Mining Engineering, School of Mining and Geosciences at Nazarbayev University.

This insightful work explores cutting-edge approaches to underground infrastructure development, combining advanced mathematical modelling, experimental techniques, and data-driven methods. The book highlights modern engineering solutions designed to enhance the safety, stability, and efficiency of underground structures, while also addressing the growing role of circular economy principles in the field. Through practical examples and real-world case studies, it offers both theoretical depth and applied relevance for researchers, students, and industry professionals.

Dr. Yagiz is an internationally recognized expert in geomechanics and tunnelling, with over 25 years of research experience and more than 200 scientific publications. His contributions include the development of the Modified CSM Model, TBM performance prediction methods, and rock brittleness classification systems. He has been consistently ranked among the world’s top 2% most cited scientists and has received numerous prestigious awards for his impact on science and higher education.
