Bronze Meets the Golden Man: A Celebration of Cultural Dialogue Between China and Kazakhstan
Nazarbayev University has hosted a cultural event titled “Bronze Meets the Golden Man”, dedicated to strengthening cultural exchange between China and Kazakhstan.
According to the organizers, bronze represents the symbol of Chinese civilization, while Kazakhstan is represented by the image of the Golden Man. Their pairing reflects mutual respect, dialogue, and cultural enrichment, marking a new chapter in cooperation inspired by the spirit of the Silk Road. The event takes place in honor of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Kazakhstan and within the framework of the China–Kazakhstan Tourism Year. Organizers emphasize that the event symbolizes a continuation of the historical dialogue – now through culture, art, and education.
“NU takes pride in its membership in the Asian Universities Alliance and actively collaborates with leading institutions in the region, including Tsinghua University, with whom we share a strong academic partnership. I believe today’s cultural exchange is not just a meeting of two powerful symbols – bronze and gold – but also a deep dialogue between our nations, our past and future, tradition and innovation,” says NU Vice President Kadisha Dairova in her welcoming remarks.
In mid-June 2025, President Xi Jinping participates in the second forum of the “China–Central Asia” Dialogue. During his official visit to Kazakhstan and meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Xi stresses the need to strengthen the foundation of friendship through ties in culture, education, sports, and tourism. In response, President Tokayev calls for the expansion of cultural and educational exchanges to support high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
On June 7, 2013, President Xi Jinping delivers a landmark speech at NU titled “Promoting Friendship Between Our Peoples and Working Together for a Bright Future”, which has opened broad prospects for development and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
The event brings together representatives from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Culture and Information, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Chinese and Kazakhstani delegates, the academic community, and media.
