The Kazakh Ministry of Education organized the Republican Forum of School Principals at NU. The school leadership from Astana, Akmola, Pavlodar, Kostanay and North Kazakhstan regions gathered to discuss current issues in the field of education under the topic “Modern school management: trends and future.”
Minister of Education Gani Beisembayev took part in the interactive TEDx session. He highlighted important aspects of the country’s education system development, stressing the potential improvement of human resources.
“With the support of the Head of State, teachers’ salaries increased by 100%, doubling over four years. In September 2023, the salaries of preschool teachers increased by another 30%. Measures to support teachers will continue. Starting this year, the system of incentives for education workers and the salaries of heads of educational organizations and their deputies will be revised,” said Gani Beisembayev.
In total, about one and a half thousand heads of secondary education organizations in Astana and four northern regions of Kazakhstan took part in the meeting. A dialogue platform was set up for them at NU, where participants learnt about the results of control and monitoring activities in education and upcoming plans for the current year.
“It is essential and symbolic that this significant Forum is being held at NU. Our University is committed to continuous improvement of education, supporting innovation and development in Kazakhstan’s higher education field. This indicates that the University entered the prestigious Times Higher Education WUR ranking, taking a well-deserved place in the world’s 501st to 600 best universities. We are proud to have become a platform for such an important educational event,” NU Vice-President Kadisha Dairova noted.
The main topics of the forum included improving the quality of education, the development of inclusive and special education, digitization, ensuring children’s safety, and other related subjects. Aizhamal Zhazykpaeva, the director of the Admissions Department, also addressed the participants. She discussed the admission rules and the guiding principles of NU and expressed gratitude to the directors for their efforts in preparing students.
“I’m pleased to visit NU again as part of the directors’ Forum; I’ve been here before because my daughter studies at NU. Our country has created favourable conditions, and NU competes with foreign universities. As announced by the vice president, NU has been ranked in the top 30% of the world’s universities according to an influential rating. This means that now you don’t have to go abroad to study; you can acquire this knowledge in Kazakhstan,” said Abdraev Darkhan, the Director of School No. 29 at Pavlodar.
Previously, the ministry met with school principals in Almaty, Turkestan, Almaty regions, and Zhetysu. The Forum will continue in other regions of the country.
