The Seminar took place at NU with the International Association of School Counseling support on November 18, 2022.
It was focused on the improvement of the quality of career counseling work with schoolchildren and a discussion of current trends and problems that exist in this area.
The theme of the Seminar was “School counseling of the modern age”. During the event, participants learned about labor market trends, competencies, practical tools, and necessary skills for career counselors. Representatives of Schools and Departments of Education, as well as independent career counselors, were invited to participate in the Seminar. Up to 400 people were registered for the event, 260 of which participated in the Seminar. Interestingly, the geography of participants is expanding every year.
This year participants came from Karaganda, Kostanay, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk, Uralsk cities, and Schuchinsk, Egindykol, Stepnogorsk, Stepnyak, Temirtau, Akkol, Atbasar, Shakhtinsk, Novaya Bukhtarma, Chkalovo, Birzhan sal, Kyzyluyum, Andykozha batyr and others villages.
The speakers of the Seminar were experts in their career fields as Almira Tursyn, a professional coach and screenwriter/actress, Rakhima Makhmudova, HeadHunter Kazakhstan’s representative, Assem Sapanova, QS Regional Director, Aigerim Shaikhina, ICU Certified Coach, and many others.
The International Association of School Counseling has been actively working on developing career counseling activities in the country since 2020. The main achievement of the association is introducing a staff unit of a career guidance consultant in all schools in Kazakhstan.
