NU GSE Collaborates With Finnish Universities to Train 1,800 Professors in Kazakhstan

Supported by the World Bank and the Kazakh Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the “ITE Model Implementation and Strengthening of its Content” project aims to improve the quality of teacher education in Kazakhstan. It will provide training to faculty members from 43 universities and 50 school principals.

It will provide training to faculty members from 43 universities and 50 school principals.

The project’s objective is to introduce an enhanced model of teacher education and to adapt 30 educational programs.

The participants will receive training from experts from NU GSE, Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) and JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Finland, as well as other 50 educational experts from various Kazakh universities. These experts will train 1,800 university professors, who will then share their new knowledge and experiences with peers. Additionally, the experts will conduct professional development training in educational leadership for 200 university professors and 50 heads of rural schools and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) training for 100 university professors.

Following the orientation session the previous week, the online training started on January 8. The topics covered during the first week included trends in modern teacher education and creating a conducive educational environment, student-centered learning, active learning methods, IT educators and digital pedagogy, and policies, forms, and measurement systems.

Starting from January 15 to 19, parallel offline training will be conducted in Astana (NU), Almaty (Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University), and Shymkent (South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University).

From January 22 to 26, additional training will take place in Pavlodar (Alkei Margulan Pedagogical University), Turkistan (Khoja Ahmed Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University), and Atyrau (Atyrau State University).

The opening of the offline session at NU will be attended by the Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, NU Acting President Ilesanmi Adesida, and faculty members from NU GSE.
