Dr. Chunho Park (PSIR, NU SSH) presents his research, “Affective Polarization, Norm Transgression by Elites, and Eroding Public Support for Democratic Norms.” He finds empirical evidence from a survey experiment in South Korea suggesting the negative consequences of affective polarization: politicizing the norm, decreasing support from voters in situations where partisan goals conflict with democratic norms, and undermining general support for democratic norms.
