Senior Manager of Patron Services of the «Nazarbayev University Library and IT Services» Library Directorate


Key and functional tasks of the department

Performing library-information services for patrons;

Maintaining the safety and integrity of library collections; 

Working on increasing information literacy of library patrons;

Researching new methods and technologies used in local and foreign academic libraries and implementing them into practice;

Collaborating with Nazarbayev University faculty.


Duties and Responsibilities

1) Organizing efficient reference services for students, faculty and staff of the University in the reading room according to flexible schedule;

2) Researching and staying tuned to patrons’ informational needs,  analyzing the effectiveness of the library collections use and the textbooks provision for the students;

3) Planning and providing course on information literacy;

4) Collaborating with faculty of Schools in collection development and other issues, acting as a subject librarian;

5) Organizing events and thematic book exhibitions;  

6) Participation as an instructor in workshops on translations of advanced experience in librarianship; 

7) Timely and qualitative execution of other orders of the Entity management within the framework of their duties and powers.



  • Academic degree in Library and information Sciences, Sciences, Humanities; 
  • Either higher library education and / or internship/academic year in library and IT programs abroad;


Work experience



  • At least 3 years of experience in the library field;
  • Have published articles;
  • A broad general cultural preparation;
  • Knowledge of contemporary sources of print and electronic information, organization and management of information;

·         Skills in conducting trainings and seminars on information literacy and critical thinking for faculty members and students.


Skills and Abilities Required

Adaptability of thinking, communicability, leadership skills, initiative, teamwork skills, analytical and pedagogical skills.



Fluency in English, Kazakh and Russian language.
