Key and functional tasks of the department

Formation of the library Fund in electronic form in accordance with the profile of ” Nazarbayev University»

Duties and Responsibilities

Participates in the organization of acquisition of electronic resources for the library;

Prepares documentation for procurement/subscriptions of electronic resources, including collections of electronic books, databases of electronic journals, access codes and other tools that support the learning process;

Initiates procurement procedures;

Monitors the procedures of procurement;

Keeps records of purchased electronic resources, including collections of electronic books, databases of electronic journals, access codes and other tools that support the learning process;

Keeps records of funds allocated for the purchase of electronic resources, including collections of electronic books, databases of electronic journals, access codes and other tools that support the learning process, as well as their use;

Participate in the formation of the budget request for the financial year, in accordance with its managed structural subdivision of the budget articles;

Provides consulting and methodological assistance on matters within the competence of the structural units;

Timely and quality execution of other instructions from the management in the framework of their duties.

Education

MLIS (Master of Library and Information Science) from accredited programs of the North America, Canada, Europe, South –East Asia universities;

Or a bachelor’s degree from Bolashak in any field / or higher education in library  (MLIS equivalency for individuals, out of the “international recruitment” category) and/or internship/academic year in a library program from international universities;

and / or a bachelor’s degree in the field of “Finance”, “Economy”, “Law”, “Business Administration” and related specialties;

Work experience

At least 2 years of experience in fields relevant to functional assignments of the position / or at least 1 year of experience in case of finishing studies in foreign universities, by professions relevant to the functional assignments of the position;

Availability of publications, broad cultural background;

Participation as a tutor in workshops on translations of advanced experience in librarianship;

Knowledge of modern sources of electronic information, organization and management of information;

Skills in trainings and holding seminars on information literacy and critical thinking;

Knowledge of the basics of formation of funds, accounting and safety of funds;

Languages

Knowledge of Kazakh and Russian

for individuals, out of the “international recruitment” category – excellent English with IELTS minimum 6.0 / TOEFL minimum 79-93 (certificate validity interval does not matter) or Diploma/University Certificate with English as a language of instruction
