Senior manager of Health and Safety Department

Key and functional tasks of the Department

Primary objectives of the Department are as follows:

1)     developing and introducing health and safety management system in the University;

2)     organizing activities on health and safety in the University, including complex measures with the participation of divisions and organizations of the University;

3)      coordinating and internal control over health and safety activities on the territory of the University;

4)     implementing measures on knowledge improvement and special training for health and safety issues in the University;

5)     participating in planning and responding to emergencies on the University territory together with other divisions and organizations of the University.

Key and functional tasks of the position

1)                participating in planning and performing activities related to development, introduction, and continuous improvement of health and safety management system in the University;

2)                organizing activities on health and safety in the University, including complex measures with the participation of divisions and organizations of the University; 

3)                participation in coordination and internal control over health and safety activities on the territory of the University;

4)                planning and organization of health and safety presentations;

5)                organizing activities of conclusion of agreements on provision of services under voluntary medical insurance and compulsory medical check-ups agreements within the competence of the Department;

6)                coordination and control of the provision of services under voluntary medical insurance contracts and compulsory medical examination;

7)                monitoring and control of health conditions in the territory of the University;

8)                organization and control the terms of the medical examination of faculty, employees and students;

9)                preparation of calculations and analytical reports on concluded contracts;

10)           conducting works to increase knowledge on sanitary and hygienic measures, including the prevention of infectious and parasitic diseases;

11)           ensuring the interaction of the University and the clinic on campus (University Health Center), which provides medical care for students and employees;

12)           develop and make relevant suggestions on improvement in work organization for healthy and safe working and studying conditions;

13)           development and coordination of works on implementation of internal documents on health promotion;

14)           development of measures to prevent occupational diseases;

15)           preparation and submitting information, data, relevant reports or any other documents to governmental bodies of Republic of Kazakhstan; 

16)           performing any other functions as assigned by the University management.

Education

Higher education, preferably with English as a language of instruction.

Preferred majors:

– Medicine;

– Public health;

– Engineering;

– Finance.

Required professional experience 

Work experience shall comply with one of the following requirements:

– at least 1 year of relevant professional experience in areas corresponding to functional areas of the specific position in civil service, or in international and/or national companies, if a candidate holds a Master’s degree; or

– at least 3 years of professional experience in areas corresponding to functional areas of the specific position in civil service, or in international and/or national companies, if a candidate holds a Bachelor’s or a Specialist degree; or

– at least 2 years of experience in Nazarbayev University.

Professional competence and personal qualities

 Knowledge of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and practices in the field of health and safety and medical control, industrial hygiene; knowledge of the basics of health insurance;

 

knowledge of international practices in the field of health and safety and epidemiological requirements for disease prevention; experience in maintaining records and reports; skills in working with technical, financial, medical documentation; risk management skills; project management skills; skills of presentations and negotiations; analytical skills; experience on assessment of the epidemiological status of the University; skills on increasing knowledge in occupational hygiene.

Proficiency in languages
