Title:

Manager of Department of acquisition and library activity support of «Nazarbayev University Library and IT Services» private entity

Key and functional tasks of the department:

Formation of the library print book fund, as well as microfilms and other media materials in accordance with the profile of the University and the information needs of users, supporting the library activities through the acquisition of goods, works and services

Duties and Responsibilities:

–      Working on tasks aimed at the formation of library print book fund;

–      Conclusion of the agreements with publishers and suppliers for the supply/subscription of printed information resources and accompanying documents;

–      Negotiation of the agreements and other enclosed documents between publishers/vendors and departments and the leadership;

–      Checking received books, registration of return of low-quality products;

–      Coordinating the execution of contract terms;

–      Monitoring the potential vendors publishing market;

–      Monitoring price offers for printed publications;

–      Budget monitoring in the framework of the Service;

–      Taking part in the collection development processes of the library;

–      Researching the information needs of library patrons and the effectiveness of the library collection use; analysis of the textbook collection in collaboration with Reference Department and Patron Services;

–      Consulting and methodological assistance on issues that are related to the competence of the Service;

–      Participating in the creation of the budget request for the financial year, in accordance with the budget parts that are managed by the Service

Education:

University degree in Library Science and/or internship / or academic year in library programs in foreign universities and libraries; or a bachelor’s degree in the field of “Finance”, “Economics”, “Law” or “Business Administration”;

Work experience:

At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the field corresponding to the functional areas of the position, or at least 1 year of work experience with a diploma in the field corresponding to the functional areas of the position at an overseas university

Skills, Abilities, and Personal Qualities Required:

–     Knowledge of the information market of Kazakhstan and other countries on the subject of acquisition for the NU library;

–     Knowledge of the foundations of the formation of funds, their accounting and safety; knowledge of the basics of organizing and managing information;

–     Experience in establishing and developing partnerships with vendors;

–     Skills in working with basic office equipment;

–     Skills in working with information library systems and platforms;

–     Skills of working with financial documents, skills in concluding agreements;

–     Ability to search and evaluate information from different sources;

–     Adaptive thinking, communicative, leadership skills, initiative, teamwork

Languages:

Knowledge of Kazakh and Russian

Fluent English with a minimum IELTS 6.0 / TOEFL 79-93 or a diploma/certificate from a university where English is the language of instruction
