Key and functional tasks of the Department

Will be appointed for the legal support of Institution


Key and functional tasks of the position

Legal support of the University’s daily activities: Participation in the development and implementation of measures to strengthen contractual discipline and legal discipline within the Institution; Drafting, reconciliation, monitoring as well as conducting legal review of Institution’s contracts; Ensuring rule of law in the Institution’s activity; Legal assistance to the structural departments of Institution.



Degree in Law; Bachelor/Specialist or Master’s Degree in Law (diploma from the Western university is desirable).  A master’s degree from a foreign higher education institution with English language of instruction and medium of assessment is preferred.


Desired professional experience (duration, sphere, and other)

Work experience – at least 2 years.


Professional knowledge and personal qualities

Knowledge of international law and the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including: civil, corporate, financial, administrative, labor legislation. Skills of legislative activities, the preparation of contracts and legal opinions. Contract drafting with international counteragents. Good organizational and communicational skills, ability to work in a team.

Knowledge of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including, but not limited to:  the civil, customs, corporate, financial, administrative, labor, international legislation, and also the laws “On Science” and “On Status of “Nazarbayev University”, “Nazarbayev Intellectual schools” and “Nazarbayev Fund”. Skills of drafting, coordination and monitoring of contracts, including external economic contracts; skills of drafting of internal normative documents, conduction of legal review of documents and preparation of the legal opinions on them. Communicative and organizational skills, ability to work in team.


Proficiency in languages, including state language, (list of languages)

Strong oral and writing skills in Kazakh, Russian and English (good oral and writing skills) languages


Computer skills

High level PC skills (Microsoft Office, database “Заң” and “Параграф”)
