Nazarbayev University is a new and dynamically growing university in Kazakhstan. CEAMS is a research center of NLA, a research hub of NU, focusing on advanced materials science and energy related research. Key and functional tasks of Laboratory

Research and technologies development in areas of advanced solar energy materials and systems

Key and functional tasks of the position

–    Lead, develop and execute world-class Laboratory.

–    Present and execute research and technology development strategy of Laboratory in collaboration with other laboratories of CEAMS.

–    Identify and develop cutting edge research directions, including collaborative and international projects to ensure sustainable funding of Laboratory.

–    Organize and participate in organization of international and domestic conferences.

–    Supervise and guide the team towards continuous professional growth, and plan capital investment to maintain the state-of-the-art equipment of Laboratory.

–    Ensure effective and safe use of equipment of Laboratory.

–    Develop strong cooperation with international/local research centers, both academic and industry.

–    Arrange participation of Laboratory in academic activities of NU including supervision of students.

–    Ensure Laboratory publications in high impact factor journals and high level international conferences, and exhibition of Laboratory research results and developed technologies etc. at various exhibitions.

–    Maintain up-to-date knowledge in areas of Laboratory to grow core technical skills and competencies of Laboratory.

–    Provide reports on projects of Laboratory and conduct regular evaluation of Laboratory staff.

–    Report to Director of CEAMS.

Education

PhD, Doctor of Science, or Candidate of Science in Energy Conversion/Solar Energy, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.

Required professional expertise and qualification

–  At least 10 years research experience in field of Laboratory at various capacities.

–  Experience in preparation, submission and supervision/co-supervision of funded research projects (Governmental, industrial, international and domestic).

–  Strong publication records: h-index above 2 (Scopus).

–  Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

–  Current funded research project(s) will be considered as an advantage.

–  Experience of working in leading international research centers and universities is preferable.

–  Experience in procurement of laboratory equipment and consumables is desirable.

–  Experience in supervising graduate students, research groups, and laboratories is desirable.

–   Analytical skills, excellent leading, multi-task and organization abilities. Ability to work in international environment and interact with international partners. Scientific curiosity and strong motivation in research.

Proficiency in languages

Fluent English is required, good command in Kazakh and/or Russian are desirable. Interview for selected candidates will be conducted in English.
