Key and functional tasks of the position

1. Perform original descriptive and subject cataloguing for various library materials in a variety of languages and subject fields according to international standards: dealing with Anglo-American Cataloging Rules 2

2. Skills of conducting complex searching and researching in English and several foreign languages.

3.Creation of primary bibliographic records, determination of author mark and adoption of ready bibliographic records, classification of indices and subject headings from informational resources such as  Library of Congress, OCLC.

 

4. Skills of working with library classification of Library of Congress.

5. Ability to deal with trustworthy records.

6. Responsibility for development of the Library electronic catalogue. 

7. Prosecution of research within the course of activity.

8. Participation and performance with lectures, presentations on the conferences and other professional events at a local and international levels.

9. Carrying out an active work on the development and improvement of library collection.

10. Development of topics within a competence for courses, seminars, workshops, master-classes and other trainings for qualification upgrade

Education

  A master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) in the United States, Canada, Europe, or Southeast Asia.

The required professional experience (period, field, other)

•  At least 5 years’ relevant experience of professional/practical library experience in an academic or research library utilizing traditional and new library systems and techniques.
•  Knowledge of cataloging practices and procedures and knowledge of library automated systems.

• Must demonstrate strong organizational, planning, problem- solving skills.

• Must possess strong communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with colleagues, and other diverse groups and individuals in a friendly manner.

• Ability to quickly adapt to and learn new software without extensive training, flexibility and willingness to embrace change.

Proficiency in languages

Excellent English with IELTS minimum 6.0 / TOEFL minimum 79-93 (certificate validity interval makes no matter) or Diploma/University Certificate, with English as a language of tuition.
