Acting Head of Strategy Department (maternity leave cover)


Key and functional tasks of the position

1) Coordination of the development of conceptual and strategic planning and development of Innovation Cluster “Astana Business Campus” (hereinafter-Cluster);

2) Analysis and set of proposals for the definition of perspective directions of the Cluster development and its measures to support residents;

3) Coordination of the work on the development of internal regulatory documents in frames of implementation of the Law “On the status of “Nazarbayev University”,”Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools” and “Nazarbayev Fund” devoted to organize activities of the Innovation Cluster;

4) Interaction with structural divisions of AEO “Nazarbayev University” on the development of cluster and other issues related to the competence of the Department;

5) Cooperation, coordination and correspondence with government agencies regarding the establishment and development of Cluster as well as other issues included in the competence of the Department;

6) Development of the contracts and/or agreements in the areas of work of the Department, as well as  monitoring and control of their implementation;

7) Preparation of draft reports, analytical briefs and other materials devoted to the development of the Cluster and other issues included in the competence of the Department;

8) Coordination of the formation of the structural unit budget request for the planned period.

9) Coordination and function internal duties of the Department for achievement of set goals.



Higher professional, master or bachelor degree in  Economics/Management; and other fields related to Cluster activities 


Desired professional experience (duration, sphere, and other)

Not less than 5 years in the areas corresponding to the functional areas of the department.


Professional knowledge and personal qualities

Ability to organize team-work effectively;

Experience of development of normative documents in Innovation sphere;

Experience of work with representatives of different cultures;

Ability to function effectively within the limited time constraints;

Reports, analytical briefs, letters writing skills;

Interpersonal and organizational skills.


Proficiency in languages, including state language, (list of languages)

Kazakh, Russian and English (oral/written)


Computer skills

A highly trained PC user (Microsoft Office)
