Формы финансирования обучения в Назарбаев Университете

Присуждение грантов поступающим осуществляется на основании установленных критериев приема и решений Приемных комиссий. Прием в Назарбаев Университет осуществляется по принципу меритократии. Университетом предлагаются: гранты, платное обучение, частичные гранты, (или финансовая поддержка). Присуждение всех типов грантов осуществляется по программам бакалавриата и предуниверситетской подготовки, магистратуры, докторантуры и резидентуры по результатам конкурса. В случае не присуждения гранта, поступающим будет предложена возможность поступления на платной основе или другие варианты финансирования.

Грант “Абай Құнанбаев” иностранные граждане, лица без гражданства, включая лиц казахской национальности все программы обучения, за исключением краткосрочных курсов и тренингов да да
Грант “Ыбырай Алтынсарин” граждане Республики Казахстан из числа некоторых категорий социально уязвимых слоев населения все программы обучения, за исключением краткосрочных курсов и тренингов да да

Лицам, ранее получившим степень соответствующего уровня образования в рамках государственного образовательного заказа и/или в рамках международной стипендии «Болашак», гранты для получения степени этого же уровня образования не присуждаются.

Выпускники Университета, ранее получившие степень соответствующего уровня образования в рамках гранта (грантов), не имеют право участвовать в конкурсе на присуждение гранта (грантов) на этот же уровень образования. Также гранты не предоставляются поступающим, которые ранее учились в Назарбаев Университете и были отчислены по дисциплинарным причинам.

▼Fee-paying study 2023-2024

Admission to a fee-paying study is available to applicants/candidates who meet all admission requirements, recommended for admission but didn’t receive any of the grants mentioned above. Number of seats for a fee-paying study is approved annually by the Nazarbayev University depending on the capacity of the Schools.

For students who make a one-time advance payment of 100% of the tuition fee for one academic year or the entire payment amount specified in the Tuition agreement, an additional discount of 5% of the payment amount is provided.

▼Partial scholarships 2023-2024

Certain categories of students of Nazarbayev University Foundation Year Program (NUFYP), undergraduate and graduate programs (except the programs of Graduate School of Business), enrolled on a fee-paying basis can be provided with a discount from 50% to 100% of the tuition fee, as can be seen in the tables below:

Fee-paying study and Financial aid: 2024-2025

▼Background information

In light of the speech by the Head of State K.K. Tokayev at the meeting of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on January 11, 2022 (https://www.akorda.kz/ru/vystuplenie-glavy-gosudarstva-kk-tokaeva-na-zasedanii-mazhilisa-parlamenta-respubliki-kazahstan-1104414), the most important factor for the development of society as a whole and an unquestionable priority is to enhance access to quality education. The issue of accessibility of higher education remains relevant and is regularly highlighted by the Head of State in his messages to the people of Kazakhstan, including the address on September 1, 2022 (https://www.akorda.kz/en/president-kassym-jomart-tokayevs-state-of-the-nation-address-181857).

According to the Nazarbayev University Strategy for 2018-2030 (https://nu.edu.kz/about/index), the University's priority tasks and challenges include:

  • Increasing the number of students to 8,000 by 2025 and to 10,000 by 2030.
  • Providing scholarship programs in the form of partially funded grants, rather than fixed amounts tied to specific students.
  • Ensuring the financial sustainability of the university.

    • Starting from the 2024-2025 academic year, the University plans to conduct a pilot project for undergraduate and foundation year programs. The main idea of the project is that in addition to grants within the state educational order, the funding system for educational programs at the University will work in such a way that part of the educational expenses is covered by the University and other funding sources, while the remaining part is paid by the student as tuition fees. According to the project, the tuition fees for undergraduate and foundation year programs are set based on the higher education market and have been established through analysis of leading universities in Kazakhstan and abroad.

    ▼Fee-paying study 2024-2025

    Admission to fee-paying study is available to applicants/candidates who meet all admission requirements, have been recommended for admission, but did not receive any of the abovementioned grants. Nazarbayev University determines the number of quota positions for fee-paying study annually, depending on the capacity of the schools.

    For students who make a one-time advance payment of 100% of the tuition fee for one academic year or the entire payment amount specified in the Tuition agreement, an additional financial aid of 5% of the payment amount is provided.


    Undergraduate and foundation year (NUFYP) programs

    The following tuition fees have been approved by the Board of Trustees of the University:

    ▼Financial aid 2024-2025

    Students who do not meet the criteria for full grants may be eligible to receive various levels of financial aid from the University.

    For students of undergraduate and foundation year programs, financial aid is provided at the rates of 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of the tuition fee.

    The amount of financial aid is determined as follows:

  • During admission to the University: based on the competition results and the student's position in the ranking.
  • During the period of study: based on academic performance according to the University's internal document.
  • During re-admission or mid-year enrollment: in accordance with the University's internal documents

    • If there are vacant grants available, students can be transferred from fee-paying study to a vacant grant.

    For international students in undergraduate and foundation year programs, as well as for students arriving independently within the academic mobility programs at Nazarbayev University for fee-paying study, financial aid is provided based on the student category (see below):
