Yuriy Pya and Zhumabay Bakenov Elected as Academicians of the National Academy of Sciences

Share this articleOn November 21, 2024, the election of new academicians to the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAS RK) under the President of Kazakhstan concluded.
According to the decision of the General Assembly of Academicians and in accordance with the election rules approved by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Order No. 457, dated September 23, 2024), the title of Academician was conferred upon eight scientists. Among them are Yuriy Pya, Chairman of the Board of the University Medical Center Corporate Foundation at NU and Doctor of Medical Sciences, and Zhumabay Bakenov, Professor at the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences at NU and Doctor of Engineering.
Yuriy Pya was elected an Academician in the field of «Medicine and Healthcare», while Zhumabay Bakenov was elected in the areas of «Natural Sciences», «Engineering and Technology».
Currently, there are five scientists from our university in the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including Dos Sarbassov, Professor at the School Sciences and Humanities (SSH) and Doctor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; Darhan Bilyalov, Vice President of NU and Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education; and Suragan Durvudkhan, Professor at SSH and Doctor of Mathematical Sciences.
We congratulate the newly elected academicians on this remarkable achievement and wish them continued success in their scientific endeavors!
