In 2013, there are 536 people who will become students in the Centre for Preparatory Studies at Nazarbayev University. These participants have successfully passed all the exams to study at Nazarbayev University.
This year is marked by a high level of applicant preparedness. More than 800 candidates passed the entrance examination in accordance with the minimum entrance requirements. For comparison, last year there were a few more than 600 applicants, in the previous year there were a few more than 500 applicants.
“The selection process for the Centre for Preparatory Studies (Foundation program) to study in the 2013-2014 academic year has demonstrated the growing interest of students and their parents to academic programs of Nazarbayev University and a high level of knowledge of applicants for majors and English. The selection committee worked very tense, and carefully checked the relevant results of entrance examinations of each candidate for admission. We hope that popularity of the University, as well as the level of knowledge of our students will continue to grow in the future,” – says Dinara Ashikbayeva, the director of the Admission Office at Nazarbayev University.
As in previous years, the School of Engineering and the School of Science and Technology were the most popular among applicants: These schools will train 43% of those enrolled, the remaining 14 % of the applicants have chosen specialties in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Most of the enrolled candidates come from Astana, Almaty, and East Kazakhstan regions. The least represented regions this year are Mangystay and North Kazakhstan regions. The number of males is slightly more than females this year at 54 % and 46 %, respectively.
The total number of students at Nazarbayev University in the fourth academic year will be more than 2,100. Education in foundation, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs at the university is carried out by about 250 teachers and professors.
