The conference was hosted by NLA Renewable Energy Lab and the Engineered Science Society (ESS).

The II Symposium on Emerging Materials and Devices held in Astana on June 25-27 in cooperation with the Engineered Science Society (ESS), which unites leading engineers, researchers and mathematicians from around the world, was attended by outstanding scientists from the USA, UK, Spain, China and Kazakhstan.  The scientific conference aims to exchange experiences and developments in research and design materials that meet the modern needs of society.

Discussions covered recently discovered or already applied new materials in energy, environment, medicine, and manufacturing, including new optical and optoelectronic materials, energy harvesting and storage devices, catalysts for biomass processing, sensors, and more.

As NU professor and Head of the NLA Renewable Energy Laboratory Nurxat Nuraje noted, the symposium plays an essential role in developing the research potential of Kazakhstani scientists.

"The successful organization of the II International Symposium on Emerging Materials and Devices signifies Kazakhstan's growing prominence in science and technology. This symposium brought together leading scientists from around the world and Kazakhstan, facilitating the exchange of information and ideas in these fields. It also provided an excellent platform for young scientists, including PhD, Master's, and Bachelor's students, to meet and exchange ideas without needing to travel abroad. This opportunity is crucial for Kazakhstan to advance its research capabilities and increase its visibility on the global stage."

Keynote speakers, professors, among them  Zhanhu Guo from Northumbria University, Ramazan Asmatulu from Wichita State University, Alina-Mariana Balu from the University of Cordoba, Luyi Sun, who is a Professor at the University of Connecticut, Sarkyt Kudaibergenov from the Institute of Polymer Materials and Technology, Chuanyi Wang from Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, and Terence Liu, Professor at Northumbria University, shared their researches and insights with others.

The symposium became a platform for knowledge exchange between foreign and Kazakhstani scientists representing universities, including Kokshetau University, Karaganda University, KazNU, KazNITU, and KBTU. The participants also noted NU's role in establishing international links between researchers in the field of next-generation materials and devices.
