Six NU Scientists Receive ‘Best Researcher Award 2024’

The award recognizes and supports scientists who have made remarkable contributions to advancing science and technology in Kazakhstan.

The Science Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Science and Higher Education presented the 2024 Best Researcher Award to 50 scientists from universities and research institutes nationwide, including six distinguished researchers from NU.

This year’s awardees from NU are:

  • Yulia Semenova, Assistant Professor at the NU School of Medicine;
  • Bakhytzhan Baptayev, Leading Researcher at the NLA Renewable Energy Laboratory;
  • Aliya Bekmurzayeva, Senior Researcher at the NLA Biosensors and Bioinstruments Laboratory;
  • Ulan Kozhamkulov, Leading Researcher at the NLA Laboratory of Genomic and Personalized Medicine;
  • Baktiyar Soltabayev, Head of the NLA Advanced Sensors Laboratory;
  • Amanzhol Turlybekuly, Senior Researcher at the NLA Advanced Sensors Laboratory.

The competition received a total of 308 applications across seven categories: Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Medicine and Healthcare, Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences, and Military Sciences and National Security.

We congratulate our colleagues and wish them continued success and innovative work in the coming year! These awards continue the string of achievements of NU scientists that we have previously reported on. The scientists’ exceptional achievements were personally recognized by President Dr. Waqar Ahmad and the university leadership, including the vice presidents, reflecting pride and recognition of their contributions to NU.
