Share this articleOn February 26, Nazarbayev University (NU) hosted the NU QADAM forum, organized in partnership with the university's first official student recruitment partner, SmarTestPrep.
The event gathered over 150 high school students from various educational institutions, including Quantum STEM School, Tamos Space School, BINOM SCHOOL, NIS, and other schools from across the country.
The forum was opened by NU President Dr. Waqar Ahmad. In his welcoming speech, he addressed the young people standing at the crossroads of an important decision. He emphasized that at NU, students not only develop their knowledge and skills but also learn to be leaders, make new friends, and contribute to their community.
“In the future, you may need to change professions and workplaces more than once. One of the most crucial skills you'll need is problem-solving. In a world of rapid technological and societal changes, the ability to adapt and continue learning will give you a competitive edge. If you don’t develop this skill, it will be challenging to find your place in the future. At university, you will learn how to do this—how to learn, work in teams, and acquire new knowledge. But it’s not just about that. The university offers you the chance to become a leader, to not only efficiently absorb information but also to lead others and achieve common goals,” said Waqar Ahmad.
As part of the forum, panel sessions were held with successful NU alumni, such as Adil Kusmanov, Chairman of the Board of the Center for International Programs; social entrepreneur Maulen Akhmetov; Chair of the UN Youth Advisory Council Kamila Tuyakbaeva; founder and leader of Sun Project, stand-up comedian Aman Tyulegenov; and others. The attendees were given a unique opportunity to learn about their success stories and ask questions about the paths they have taken.
Vice President of NU Assel Uvaliyeva expressed her gratitude to the alumni for sharing their valuable experiences and wished the prospective students success in their future paths at the university.
Additionally, the students participated in a session with current NU students, where they gained insights into student life and the atmosphere on campus. The event concluded with a Q&A session with NU’s admissions representatives, where the high school students received detailed information about the admissions process.
