Share this articleStanford University annually compiles a ranking of the world's most cited scientists, which consistently includes faculty from NU. As of August 2024, the top 2% of scientists globally include 35 researchers from our university.
This ranking is based on bibliometric data from the Scopus database, which tracks over 180,000 leading scientists. The systematic bibliometric study was conducted by a team from Stanford University, led by Professor John Ioannidis.
Scientists were classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields, using Science-Metrix, an internationally recognized leader in science and technology evaluation. The study assesses several key metrics, including citation count, h-index, hm-index (adjusted for co-authorship), and a comprehensive score (c-score).
The ranking includes two lists: career-long achievement data (updated through the end of 2023) and past-year data, covering citations received during the 2023 calendar year.
